- Breathe
Wake up, get out of bed and take one really good deep breath. Feel the Oxygen flowing through your body and waking up those dormant areas of your body. Deep breathing if done regularly can help with weight loss, pain, and aid relaxation and mental clarity. We never forget to breathe, but when was the last time you consciously had a really good deep breath.
- Smile
Smile at a stranger, your partner, your dog, the postman, or even yourself! Smiling releases a chemical which induces a feeling of happiness. Not only this but the action can also lower your heart rate and reduce blood pressure. The endorphins released are also a great natural pain reliever. Smiles all around!
- Sit up straight
When you are eating breakfast make a conscious effort to sit up straight. Slouching can cause moodiness, low self esteem and poorer confidence. Sitting up straight can also help your physical wellbeing by reducung back, neck and shoulder pain, making you happier in the long run.
- Put on your favourite song
Get dressed and get ready for the day ahead by blasting your favourite tune. Music triggers memories, a great song usually reminds you of a good time. If its your thing, singing into a hairbrush and dancing can also help with stress release. Hairbrush optional..
- Make plans
If you're feeling low text a friend to organise plans! This gives you an event to look forward to, inducing happines and excitement. Plus who doesn't love a text from their friend in the morning, so make it great!
- Finally .. THINK POSITIVE
It may be cliche, but in general there are many people who will be having a worse day than you. If you start the day low, you'll probably end it the same way. Get your positive pants on and go and show the world what you're made of!
